24″ x 24″ oil and oil-bar on panel

I finished this piece last night.  As a painting, this piece would be described as abstract… however, it is quite literally what I saw, (branches and debris), frozen in ice.

When I look closely at the debris suspended in ice, I am reminded of amber, and the bits of history, the flora and fauna, trapped inside golden resin. 

 

 

This piece is also 24″ x 24″, oil and oil-bar on panel…

and it is still in progress.
