Stirred, 2014 – Michaela Harlow – 12″ x 12″, oil on panel
Today was one of those days: too many things to do and not enough time to do them. I ran into town with a list of errands and imagined myself returning back to the studio —and a larger work in progress— by noon. No such luck. Price checks. Lines. Ski traffic. Chaos. Oh! That shot of color on the right hand side! Love how my eye is first drawn into that oceany textured blue I find so comforting (it reminds me of the midnight blue Crayola I always used up before any others) and then I can’t help but look at the red. What is it? A cardinal, a realization, a heart, a lover running away, an inspiration, a wound?
Mmmm. I like the way your eye and mind are moving around this piece. Excellent. Makes me feel like I got it right. x
