Steel Mist, 2014 – Michaela Harlow – pastel & pencil on paper (24″ x 19″)
While pink-gold fog dominates the liquid, Connecticut River landscape, cooler hues color the hills and valleys here in Vermont —especially in evening. Smokey blues, steel greys and cobalt violets soften early morning and twilight hours.
I’m anxiously awaiting the delivery of a few oil painting supplies —tracking my package’s slow progress across the Great Plains— and wondering how some of these ideas might play out on panel. In meantime, there’s always pastel and pencil . . .
