Thirty in Thirty, 2014: Nude Landscape

Nude_Landscape:Copyright_2014:Michaela_Harlow:pastel_on_paper:michaelaharlow.comNude Landscape, 2014 – Michaela Harlow – 12″ x 12″ pastel on paper (14″ x 17″)

Today I began a series of small works on paper. Next month, I will continue with a series of small works on panel. My goal is an overall framed size of 2′ square – 1′ x 2′ vertical/horizontal, or less for work on paper, and 1′ square or less for alla prima oil on panel.

Smaller pieces allow me to express myself quickly and often inspire larger bodies of work. I can also make these pieces available to new collectors at a lower price point, because they cost me less to create and less to frame. As I look forward and beyond the final four days of thirty-in-thirty, I am starting to set new new goals. I’ve set a weekly challenge for next month —Two for Tuesday— which is two works posted every Tuesday in February, starting on the 4th.

Nice job capturing the feel of golden light through morning fog. I like the blurred suggestion of a few tall trees in the upper left. I like the sound of continued artistic goals for February!

Thank you, Jen. I woke up this morning with a desire to begin some live botanical explorations. This of course means that I will need some fresh flowers as soon as possible and probably a visit to the conservatory. My eye is really craving color.
