Powder Twilight, 2014 – Michaela Harlow – 16″ x 10″, pastel on paper (18″ x 12″)
It’s been a rainy morning, so I took advantage of the situation by stealing a few hours of studio time back from my busy schedule. The weather should clear later, and I felt like this piece could not wait until the weekend.
Yesterday evening we drove to Shelburne Falls and spent a few hours along the river. I love having dinner at the West End Pub in Buckland, Massachusetts; sitting beside the Bridge of Flowers and watching light and reflections from the garden dance on the water below the bridge. Last night, while waiting for our table, we took a stroll beneath the blooming wisteria, along a path lined with iris, azalea, peonies, anemone and wild, blue indigo. This came to me from the powder twilight.
